The Last Days of David the King

1 Kings 1-2:11
Bookmark and Share
The final days of David were not easy ones. Even though he had promised that one day Solomon would be king, another son, Adonijah, tried to usurp the throne by creating his own inaugural celebration. Word of this is taken to David wherein he instructs faithful Zadok to anoint Solomon and set him upon his throne. Once Solomon is crowned, Adonijah fears for his life, but Solomon extends mercy to him but with caution. The opening verses of chapter two contain David’s charge to his son Solomon to walk in God’s ways and keep His Word.
